Would anyone object to me changing the title of my blog to Coca-Cola Place or to Fido’s Blog? Why you ask? Well, as you have probably figured out blogging isn’t the most lucrative of hobbies when it comes to finances and I have been creatively coming up with ways to earn a living doing this. I figured that corporate sponsorship is the way to go. Sure it might make more sense to have an appropriate blog sponsor such as Microsoft or RIM, but current examples of similar sponsorship show otherwise. It worked for the Skydome…uh…I mean the Rogers Centre; why can’t it work for me? There are a plethora of examples, some of which I’ve included below. To make it fun I thought maybe you could match up the list of old names with the new.

OLD NAMES
1. The Colosseum [Edmonton, AB]
2. Sportsman’s Park [home of the St. Louis Cardinals]
3. Broward County Civic Arena [home of Florida Panthers]
4. Maple Leaf Gardens [Toronto, ON]
5. Renfrew Park [Edmonton, AB]
6. Pluto [Outerspace]

NEW NAMES
a. TELUS field
b. Air Canada Centre
c. National Car Rental Center, then Office Depot, now BankAtlantic
d. Rexall Place
e. Busch Stadium
f. Planet Starbucks

ANSWERS
(1,d) (2,e) (3,c) (4,b) (5,a) (6,f; this is obviously fake; I stole the idea from the book FIGHT CLUB)

1. Make List.

I love making lists. Call me a control freak but there is something soothing about ordering and categorizing things that begin as chaos. Mostly, I love making ‘To Do’ lists. You will rarely see me sitting around on my days off just vegging. I like to be productive and I know there is always something to do. To help with figuring it all out, I make lists.

I even break down my bullets into categories. For example, I would never put a blog chore and a cleaning chore under the same heading. They would deserve different categories such as ‘House’ and ‘Computer’. Grocery shopping would fall under ‘House’ but the actual grocery list would be on an entirely different piece of paper.

Think I’m weird? Try this….when I realize that I have accomplished something that I hadn’t put on my list in the first place I will write it on and immediately cross it off.

I know I am not alone. Yes, most people look at me cross-eyed when I try to explain how much satisfaction this gives me. However, I know that there are more like me, people who derive so much pleasure from sorting and ordering. One clue is to take a look at someone’s blog and check out how many categories, sub-categories, lists and cross-referencing that they have.

For those of you who get what I am talking about, I think we would fall under the category of ‘Mad Multitasker.’
