Would anyone object to me changing the title of my blog to Coca-Cola Place or to Fido’s Blog? Why you ask? Well, as you have probably figured out blogging isn’t the most lucrative of hobbies when it comes to finances and I have been creatively coming up with ways to earn a living doing this. I figured that corporate sponsorship is the way to go. Sure it might make more sense to have an appropriate blog sponsor such as Microsoft or RIM, but current examples of similar sponsorship show otherwise. It worked for the Skydome…uh…I mean the Rogers Centre; why can’t it work for me? There are a plethora of examples, some of which I’ve included below. To make it fun I thought maybe you could match up the list of old names with the new.

OLD NAMES
1. The Colosseum [Edmonton, AB]
2. Sportsman’s Park [home of the St. Louis Cardinals]
3. Broward County Civic Arena [home of Florida Panthers]
4. Maple Leaf Gardens [Toronto, ON]
5. Renfrew Park [Edmonton, AB]
6. Pluto [Outerspace]

NEW NAMES
a. TELUS field
b. Air Canada Centre
c. National Car Rental Center, then Office Depot, now BankAtlantic
d. Rexall Place
e. Busch Stadium
f. Planet Starbucks

ANSWERS
(1,d) (2,e) (3,c) (4,b) (5,a) (6,f; this is obviously fake; I stole the idea from the book FIGHT CLUB)

No!!! Don’t do it!…well maybe do it, my fear is the sponsor will take over everything, and all I am really trying to say is I miss the old Canada’s wonderland, when Hanna Barbara land still was there and smurf villiage, than Paramount took over…”Paramount Canada’s Wonderland!” no longer just Canada’s wonderland, and everything went to the movies, sure its still a fun place to visit but for me it’ll never be the same. Or maybe I’m just old and outdated unhip maybe the smurfs really weren’t so cool after all. Well if you do look for a sponsor try and make it some sort of food like M&M’s or Harvey’s ya Harvey’s mmmm, I’ll just shut up now.
