CheerleaderSee the picture? What words come to mind? Of the ones I can repeat do you ever, even a bit, think of ‘rocket scientist’? Because that is what she is. I kid you not. Her name is Summer Williams and her inspiring story is laid out in this Sports Illustrated article.

Stories like these are great PR for hot chicks everywhere because they stifle the stereotype that beautiful women can’t be smart. It drives me nuts when I see a brainiac on TV and her beauty is played down by her thick rimmed glasses, mousy hair and frumpy clothes. I assume she is too busy reading Tolstoy to pick up a Cosmo?

I know, the world is riddled with inaccurate (and sometimes funny) stereotypes. I know for sure I am not one to be politically correct. However, it is great to see, once in a while, someone break through their defined ‘role’ and really surprise the crowd. I am sure there are going to be a few surprised Sports Illustrated readers. Kudos to the author, Aditi Kinkhabwala on this one.
