I got hacked. July 16
I suppose you can tell by my title - which I won’t change for awhile - “Hacked by G3N3T1X”. I HATE leet speak.
Okay, so it appears this wanna-be just has something to prove and didn’t change anything else. Or maybe I am downloading a virus right now.
But what is the deal? Is this not a violation of my privacy? More importantly, what point is this person trying to prove?
If s/he has something to say then say it. Write a post on my blog. Say what it is that you want people to hear (even if it is “I am so cool becasue I hacked someone’s blog.”)
What is the point of trying to communicate with the world if no one understands you? This person clearly wants to be remembered but how? Nothing meaningful, funny or purposeful was done or said. So what’s the point?
Mean what you say and say what you mean. Or shut the F*&K up.

Generally hackers are cowards. The sit behind a computer screen in their parents basements where they feel safe. In some ways its kinda sad because they have nothing better to do, no friends and no relationship with their family. What I find really funny is “wow, you hacked a blog that, like mine, has little security in it to stop that kind of thing.” I mean really how hard is it to change the title of web page, I would hardly even call that a hack. The upshot is that your blog is generating enough traffic to warrant being “hacked” my guess is that if said “hacker” had their own blog no one would read it.
P.S. I hope you are not downloading a virus

How very mature. Evidently some Turkish script kiddie has been misusing his parent’s dialup connection. If you Google his soubriquet, you’ll find his personal home page (not very stealthy there, silly boy), as well as a bunch of other sites (mostly Wordpress) he has managed to “hack”.
Even though this invasion is almost pathetically inconsequential, as you point out, it’s probably still worth reporting to both your web host and the Wordpress chaps. The hacker may be just polishing his basic skills as he works his way up to some bigger stunt.

it seems we are all in agreement with how ridiculous this person is.
todd - thanks for the compliment (re: be high traffic). I never thought about it as being like that!
michael - sobriquet…what a fantastic word!
thanks for the visit gentlemen.

I stumbled across your post and, since just recently I set up a wordpress also, I’m just curious. Do you know how your “hacker” gained access to your site? Don’t want the same thing happen to me.
cheers
tommy

I’m not certain but I think it had to do with the fact that I didn’t have a recently updated version of WordPress. So make sure you keep up on that.
Truthfully though, you can never protect yourself 100%…if someone really wants in, they’ll find a way.

Thanks Zoe,
it’s always a bit of a pain to keep updating, particullarly since wordpress releases new versions quite frequently. But you’re probably right.
