There is some crazy lady out there that thinks we should simplify the English language by spelling things out phonetically. Don’t understand what I mean? Check this link out or get the shortened version in my example below.

English: If you have a poor memory your chances of becoming a good speller are low.

Simplified Spelling: If u hav a por memmory yor chances of becumming a good speller ar lo.

The main case behind this concept is that it makes it easier for people to spell. However, I think the problem lies in the teaching, not in the person.

The problem with illiteracy is not that people have bad memories it’s that they don’t read, spell check, read or spell check again (and I mean REAL spell check, not the kind that comes on the computer). People are lazy with language (as they are with most things) especially in the day and age of text messaging and email.

Besides, if you really want to simplify things why don’t just use acronyms for everything? Examples. WTF and RTFM (you can Google them if you don’t know what they mean)

Well, there may be some good to that plot line. Instead of making dumb people smarter, why don't we make everyone else more dumb? (or is it more dumber???)

thanks for the link - I definitely want to see that flick.
  • i think itza grate eyedeea too simplifeye spelling. cleerlee itz tha solution to all of our educasional problemz.

Oh my, do you know how difficult that was to write. Maybe the lady who is in charge of this initiative should watch this movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/plotsummary) before she charges down the path that she is hoping for.
