Sometimes when you feel like life sucks you need to remember the things that don’t suck to get you out of your funk. I’ve been really down lately because of looming negativity and decided to write about all the things that rock in my life. I’m not trying to brag, I’m really just trying to remind myself of why I shouldn’t mope around and be all pathetic-like.
1) I am married to my best friend. Okay, I’ll admit, he really knows how to push my buttons but there is no one else in the world that I would rather be with.
2) I have a super-awesome job and work with super-awesome people. I’m a social media analyst with a focus in blogger relations. I get to ‘play’ on the internet and make relationships with all sorts of interesting people. It’s my hobby and I get paid for it.
3) I drive a VW Jetta with a moonroof and heated seats. It’s stick shift so it’s actually fun to drive.
4) I have two beautiful homes. One is currently being rented out to a lovely young family, the other is a kick ass loft in downtown Dundas which I’m moving into on May 1.
5) I can ask my brother for anything and he would do it. He is also a great hugger.
6) My nephew Peter recognizes me and knows how to say “Teta,” which is “Aunt” in Macedonian.
7) I have really pretty blue eyes. Honestly, I love getting compliments on my eyes more than any other compliment about any other physical attribute.
My parents are in the most loving relationship in the world and, like my brother, would do anything for me.
9) My friend Maaike would travel half way around the world to see me on the drop of a hat (and has done so on more than one occasion).
10) My friend Sacha gave me one of my favourite nicknames – Matchka – which is “Cat” in Serbian (or most slavic languages).
11) I’m tall and I love it. I’m 5′10 and 3/4 to be exact.
12) I’m really good at beach volleyball. I will dive, jump and contort my body to make sure that ball doesn’t touch the ground. I am not afraid to get hurt when I play.
13) I’ve known my friend Liz for 24 years and I’m only 28. She lives far away, as most of my friends do, but every time we talk we have the best conversations ever. There was a stretch of about 5 years where we got each other the same x-mas gift. What can I say? She knows me well.
Okay, I think that’s enough for today. I got on a bit of a roll there! That was some good therapy…I recommend doing this the next time you feel rotten. it’s a good reminder of just how awesome life really is.
