Water Everywhere and My Dad Walks

The other day the filter under the kitchen sink broke at my parents’ house.

Water. Everywhere.

Even in the basement.

My Dad, Mr. Handy-man, is in no state to fix anything. So, you can imagine how upset everyone was.

Well, not everyone. Here is an account of the situation from my big brother, who was there (thankfully) to brighten everyone’s spirits.

honestly god works in mysterious ways. i mean, i was barely home and the pipe burst…and not for cleaning up…but Mom was REALLY upset.

Mom: (with her eyes welling up) I can’t believe this happened. Your Dad is so upset, this might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for him. Why can’t we get a break here?

Big Bro: Why do you say that, because he can’t help or fix it himself?

Mom: Yeah, he’s in the kitchen just furious right now.

Big Bro: The kitchen!!?!?!

Mom: Yeah…?

Big Bro:: Dad is in the kitchen? He hasn’t stepped foot in it since he’s come back from the hospital? How did he get there?

Mom: (smiling now) He went up the stairs. (I found out later he got himself out of bed, used his wheelchair as a walker, walked up the steps and sat down in his wheelchair that Mom brought up the 3 steps for him)

Big Bro: So what straw are you talking about then? That’s amazing!

Mom: :) Totally changed her perspective on the bad situation that actually turned out giving Dad a kick in the ass.

A blessing in disguise….

Nutrisystem #2: The Booklet

Before we start the program there is some reading to do to prepare. Defining your goals and learning about how the program works.

Little Geeks. 100 Free PCs to Kids

What a small world.

At the Mesh after party I bought this drink for charity. Of course, I totally forgot what the charity was (yes, I could zoom in the pic but just hadn’t gotten around to it). Well, wouldn’t you know I get an email from my friend Ben Lucier telling me about an upcoming event from the same charity which is called Little Geeks!

So what did my $9 go towards? Not only did I get a tasty fruity bevy but supporters of the charity help to give underprivileged kids refurbished PCs. Rawk!

Ben writes about an upcoming Little Geeks event in Toronto on his blog. If you know a kid that you think would benefit from this program I encourage you to register them. There are also a lot of other opportunities to get involved and support (I’m sure they don’t all involve drinking).

Good luck with the event Ben!
