Things I’m quitting.

I’ve made a hard decision to cut out some extra stuff in my life to make more room. It’s not that i don’t like these things. It’s just on the list of important things in my life these things ended up on the bottom.

I am determined to make myself happy and have more time to do the things I REALLY want. I know I was spread to thin; I like to be busy. And it’s not that I’m NOT going to be busy, it’s just that I’ll spend MORE time on the things that are at the top of the list (which will be another blog post).

* CPRS Newsletter - My good friend Janine was the Chair last year and we worked on it together. It was tons of fun and we came out with issues that I was really proud of. When she was promoted to Secretary on the Board I was honoured to fill her position. As much as I was dying to get started I should have trust my instincts - it was just too much responsibility.

I’m fortunate that the CPRS President, Liliana, and my friend Janine are both kind and compassionate people. They were very supportive with my decision and always have been. It made it less difficult for me to quit. I know I let them down but they understand why. And that is really important to me.

* Nutrisystem - I was really fortunate to have a chance to try out Nutrisystem for 2 months for free. I’ve made a few videos about it but the commitment around it is too demanding. I’m going to be writing a post about it, my thoughts on the program and I do even have one more funny (and hopefully helpful) video to put out. Then it’s over.

* The Gym - I love the new gym I found. It’s more martial arts than an aerobics class; I sweat like a madman after each class and feel a great accomplishment after each class. So, why am I quitting? I never go.  Since it’s class based you have to work on their schedule, which means I can only make the 6:15pm time. Add in a 1 hour bus ride and you have yourself a recipe for difficult transport. Work late, miss the bus, have a dinner date and then you soon realize that you are wasting your time AND not working out.

Keep in mind I said I was giving up going to the gym; I didn’t say I was giving up working out. But this is about what I’m quitting so we’ll talk about the working out thing later.

* Saying ‘Yes’ - Let’s face it; the reason I am in this mess to begin with is because anytime anyone asks me to do something I say ‘Yes’.  I made a promise to myself to really think about something before just committing.
