Video games are bad…blah blah blah.
While I was doing some research on my character for World of Warcraft (WoW) I found a set of rules for “Party Etiquette”. For those that don’t know, WoW is a game that is played with other real people, not computer characters. Basically, these rules are letting you know how you can be a better player.
I thought it was interesting how most of of these rules could be applied to real life. I pulled out the most appropriate ones below:
- You can’t always prevent people from dying, but you can at least let them know that you tried your best.
- If you buff well they will say “Hey, that person was a great player.” [a buff is a way to help increase another player's skill]
- While you are fighting, scan around you for patrolling monsters.
- Share the items or resource nodes between you. Don’t be greedy.
- If you loot an item that you cannot use, and refuse to give it to someone who could have really used it, this situation has a potential to blow up.
- Fight first, loot later.
- Stay Until the Job is done.
- Keep in mind that your reputation will follow you throughout your playing career. If you offend fellow party members, your reputation can be affected.
- Making friends is more beneficial than creating enemies.
- Go the extra mile…This can build good relations for the future.
- The following is recommended but not mandatory behavior.
