Today is the first father’s day without my dad. I spent it at his grave site, planting flowers around his headstone, together with my family. There were a lot of families spending their day the same way.

We also wanted to start a tradition of releasing helium filled balloons attached with personal notes that we’ve written. Unfortunately, the helium filled balloons didn’t last very long and when we tied the notes to them, they didn’t float away. Frustrating, but also funny.

So, instead we burned them. We had a teeny bonfire with all the little notes in the front of the new garden we planted. Ashes to ashes…

My note was supposed to float away and lead whoever found it to this blog post. I also wrote my 6 words poem:

The cardinal sings; I remember him.

And I do.

Red Dress

I never considered myself to be a fashionista but when a former colleague introduced me to the site Polyvore I couldn’t resist playing around.

The site is a very clever idea. Each user has access to an infinite number of wardrobe accessories, clothes and shoes (and other odds and ends). You search through their database and make up an outfit (called a set). Each set doesn’t just consist of clothes. As you can see there are different backgrounds, you can add words and other pictures. Each set is more of a piece of art, an expression of a the creators particular likes and interests. The most clever part is that a majority of these items you can purchase online. Just click on that stunning red dress and see where it takes you.

This is the first I’ve created but certainly not the last. I think I’ve finally found the perfect place to fulfill my six words obsession.
